Grounds & Gear, published by Directive LLC

Draft. This document is being reviewed before Grounds & Gear launches and is not yet in effect. Questions: support@groundsandgearledger.com.

Effective date: not yet in effect (draft)

Grounds & Gear keeps your information on your device. We do not collect, receive, sell or share the records you enter, and we have no servers that store them. The only information we receive is what you choose to send us through our website or by email (section 10). This policy explains what the App stores, which phone permissions it asks for, and what choices you have.

1. What the App stores on your device

We do not receive any of this.

2. Phone permissions

Grounds & Gear asks for a permission only when you use the feature that needs it. You can say no, and you can change your choice later in your phone's settings.

Camera: to photograph receipts, warranty cards, rating plates, assets and tasks.

Text scanning: when you scan a receipt, rating plate or warranty card, the App reads the text on your phone, using Apple's Vision framework on iPhone and Google's ML Kit through Google Play services on Android. The picture and its text are not sent to us.

Photos: to attach an existing picture.

Notifications: to remind you about maintenance and expiring warranties. Reminders are scheduled on your device.

Face ID, Touch ID or fingerprint: to unlock the App. Your biometric data stays with your phone's operating system; the App only receives a yes or no.

Files: to save exports and to restore a backup you choose.

3. Information we do not collect

You can optionally sign in with Apple (iPhone) or Google. Apple or Google confirms who you are and gives the App your name, email address (or an Apple "Hide My Email" address) and an account identifier. The App stores these on your device only, to fill in your profile; it does not keep sign-in tokens and does not send this information to us or anyone else. Signing out or using Erase all data removes it. The App has no accounts on our servers, no advertising, analytics, tracking pixels or third-party advertising SDKs. It does not use your location.

4. Sharing and exports

Nothing is shared unless you do it. When you export a backup (JSON or CSV), a report (PDF or CSV) or a calendar file (.ics), the file goes wherever you send it, such as email, cloud storage or your calendar app. That service's privacy policy then applies to the copy.

Phone backups. If you have iCloud Backup (iPhone) or Google device backup (Android) turned on, your phone includes Grounds & Gear's records in those backups. Apple or Google stores and protects them under their own privacy policies; we have no access to them. You can exclude Grounds & Gear from these backups in your phone's settings.

Subscriptions. Purchases are processed by Apple or Google. We do not receive your name, payment details or billing address. The App only learns from the store whether a subscription is active and which tier, and keeps that status on your device.

5. Household delegates and contacts

When you add someone as a household delegate or vendor contact, their details are stored only on your device. Version 1 does not send them an invitation or share your records with them. Please add only people who would expect you to keep their contact details.

6. Security

Your records are protected by your phone's built-in encryption and lock screen, plus the App's optional master password and biometric unlock. The master password is stored as a one-way hash, not as text.

7. Children

Grounds & Gear is not directed to children, and you must be 18 or older to use it.

8. Your choices and rights

Because your data is only on your device, you control it directly. You can view, correct, export and delete any record in the App. Deleting the App deletes its data from that device, except copies you exported.

If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or a U.S. state with a consumer privacy law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or port your personal information. For your App records, you can exercise all of them in the App yourself, since we hold none of them. For a waitlist signup or an email you sent us, write to support@groundsandgearledger.com.

9. App store privacy labels

For the App, our App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected" and our Google Play Data Safety form states that no data is collected or shared.

10. Our website, waitlist and support email

This policy also covers groundsandgearledger.com. If you join the waitlist, we store your email address, the page you signed up on and the time you signed up, in a database we run with our hosting provider, Supabase. We use it only to tell you when Grounds & Gear launches and about major updates, and you can ask us to remove it at any time by emailing support@groundsandgearledger.com. If you email us, we keep your message and address to answer you. The website itself uses no cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. Our site is served through Cloudflare, which processes standard connection data (such as IP address) to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date and show a notice in the App before a material change takes effect. If a future version adds cloud backup, sync or accounts, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before any data leaves your device.
